The Rainbow Within

War of Colour

I am a rainbow the world has yet to see.

It comes for me with a stench of decay; an attempt to stamp out my spark.

Awakening to turbulent grays and browns crashing against the walls of my mind, awaiting sweet release; the rising tide threatening to break free, enveloping all in its path.

An external façade of faded lavender and peach, mild and unassuming to hide the yellow of my cowardice; the ever unattainable “authentic self”.

The internal sea of rich golds and reds, woven together with deep sapphire with a hint of fuschia; my tapestry of collected experience.

Beneath it all lays the darkest onyx, a swirling hole of despair and broken dreams; forever battling to overtake the colour within.

Never succumb, never submit; never again will the dark steal my light.

My rainbow will shine even without the rain; will there be anyone left to see it?
