In the Sky

The Rainbow In The Sky

The Rainbow, glowed brightly,

when it appeared, in the sky.

Like a beautiful arc, of a colourful smile.

To hang in the air, for a brief time,

blending its colours, so versatile.

~

Of red then orange,

yellow and green,

blue, indigo and violet,

with a mix of colours in between.

Magnificent rainbows, true colours are seen.

from red through violet,

these colours make it, a true delight.

~

If you are lucky,

sometimes you will see,

just neath the main one,

a double rainbow will be,

Not as bright and less easy to see,

will have all the same colours,

to a lesser degree.

~

The clouds are soft white and shades of grey,

after the storm passed, by our way.

The air is fresh, clean and crisp.

This land has been soaked, no longer dying.

The river was parched and now it’s flowing,

It becomes alive once again, the fish are thriving.

Soon the farmers on the land, the seed will be sowing.

~

The clouds part slightly,

the sunbeams down,

like spotlights through the mist,

highlighting the ground.

The townsfolk gathered in the street,

The cheers of joy are all around,

They have very wet feet.

~

With smiles on their faces,

knowing the drought has broken.

After the week of long rain,

that rainbow glowed,

like a glorious token.

~

A child was heard, from the crowd.

Mummy, mummy, look a double rainbow I see!

Can it see me?

He lifted his arms in his stroller,

His dad lifted him up,

Upon his shoulder.

The child clapped his hands very loud.

Oh mummy, can it see me?

His mother said, so very proud.

Yes my dear, from the heavens above.

~

The land soon to be green,

the crops and trees,

can begin to grow tall, like before,

Not dry anymore, as it once had been.

You just wait and see,

With all the shades of the colour green.

~

All were so happy, in the town,

then everything was quiet, not even a sound.

When the wind began to gently blow,

those soft white clouds around,

And out to sea.

~

That beautiful rainbow,

that sprang to life,

of red then orange,

yellow and green,

blue, indigo and violet,

Such a delight,

began to fade away.

As though to say,

remember me!

For I will be back some other day.
