The Rainbow That I See

I have a truth that is not light

About a man that came at night.

Easily exploited within

His heteronormative sin.

Virtuous scarlet stains on white

Tainted the rainbow that I see

In every mirror judging me.

Dreamt pastures of viridian--

--Burnt useless ash obsidian.

Dark memories, please let me be.

My once sweet soul tarnished like rust

Filled with fear, hate, and self-disgust.

Anger as hot as amber flame

It was my fault, I was to blame.

But to myself, I was unjust.

Dark questions like violets rose

Now controversial feelings pose:

Do I like girls? Do I like guys?

Confusions perpetualize.

Who is safe to trust and disclose?

So many years would come and go

Before I found a friend -- no, Beau!

With every taste of fuchsia lips

Toxic habits fell to eclipse.

Her patience and peace overthrow

The tainted rainbow that I see

In every mirror judging me.

Sweet as tangerine, bright as gold,

She's improved my life sevenfold.

Cerulean tranquility.
