The Queen of Country
America’s Sweetheart

She was sassy and witty, true as can be
I was hoping the news wasn’t so
There won’t come another, this dynamo she
The Dolly we all came to know
She was straight and authentic, never a fraud
A gift from above sent to please us
I could always embrace the presence of God
When hearing her sing, “There was Jesus”
Tho “Many are called,” Dolly was chosen
Her love for the Lord was apparent
By trusting in Him, most gossip was frozen
And stones being thrown, mostly errant
The world is no better, the days aren’t as bright
Even Nature’s now sporting a scar
I’m planning to meet you, you’re such a delight
For the Gospels reveal where you are
Her legacy lives through the work of her hands
In our memories treasured within
I’ve written this tribute so “Death” understands
“You’ve done damage, but you didn’t win”
