The Prismatic Ghost Of You

Our Bubble Burst And You Went With It…

Every day, everywhere, I feel your presence.

It lingers.

You’re just out of reach.

The ghost of you is ever-present.

You haunt me so.

.

Will you ever come back?

I yearningly beseech.

I never want to let you go.

My life was an echo before you.

Loneliness reigns in your absence.

.

Someone explain this all to me.

Please make it all make sense.

My heart beat for you.

It barely sputters now.

My very existence feels incomplete.

There’s no replacing you,

No one could ever dare compete.

.

I stare at the prisms dancing softly on the wall.

Light and crystal come together to put on a beautiful display.

“The rainbows are dancing!” That’s what you would always say.

.

Giggling excitedly, as you dance and play.

Hopping up and down,

Trying to capture a wriggling rainbow there in your tiny palm.

So ecstatic at the sight,

There was no way you’d sit and be calm.

.

Oh, how you loved the tiny rainbows there on the wall!

You’d plead that the clouds needed to fly away,

The sun not to go.

You experienced such delighted enchantment with every prismatic show.

.

Do you remember how I’d blow endless bubbles

So you could pop them while watching the rainbow orbs floating amongst the dancing color show?

You’d say, “the fairies must be coming,

See how they’ve painted mini rainbows!

Let’s blow bubbles and let them know we want to play!”

.

Such a simple pleasure would make your entire day.

I long for those simple joys,

The echos of your laughter.

Who could guess how we’d get hit with such a devastating disaster?

. . .
