The Price of Silence

Is a cage, not a haven.

By Annam M GordonPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

They told you that keeping the peace

meant keeping your mouth shut.

They told you that your anger was too loud,

your boundaries were too sharp,

and your tears were too demanding.

So you swallowed your voice to keep them comfortable.

Look at the cost of that bargain.

You saved their comfort, but you lost your own peace.

If speaking your truth shatters the relationship, let it shatter.

A connection built on your silence is a cage, not a haven.
