my mother told me

that I was a flower, a

Yasmin. and I would

need water and fresh

air and sunlight to grow. she

never told me I

could be picked and cut

from my root, or extinguished

by fire. but I guess

it’s all worth it if

you’re pretty and every breath

you take is precious
