But there’s something important that we cannot ignore

That’s the value of compassion, and what it’s for

Empathy allows us to feel what others feel

It lets us connect, in ways beyond words

To share their burden, and not be deterred

Compassion moves us to act and to care

To help those in need, and to be aware

That the world is not just about you or me

But a shared experience, for all to see

In philosophy, we often seek truth

But empathy and compassion are not uncouth

They’re a vital part, of what makes us whole

And we need them both, to achieve our goal

So let us remember, as we contemplate

The mysteries of life, and the things we can’t debate

That empathy and compassion are always in view
