The Pothos Are Weeping

summer in between

drought

haven’t seen water in years

draught

to sip on ice cold beers

summer

meant something different

fun in the sun

it slowly cooks our skin the way we used to cook hot dogs

tail gate party

trees long since turned ash

celebratory parade

streets empty of bodies but full of souls

wandering

lost

looking

a game of hide and seek

endlessly searching for meaning we wont ever find

surreal poetry
