The Pen That Drew Monsters

It would not stop till the monster was produced on paper

The Pen That Drew Monsters

The pen moved on its own,

sketching creatures

that should not exist,

pressing nightmares into paper.

I leaned closer,

and shadows poured

from the ink,

pressing cold against my chest.

Even the light bent,

folding around the creatures,

and I realized

the pen remembered fear.

Each line twisted violently,

folding claws into wings,

and I shivered

as the monsters leaned closer.

I tried to stop it,

but the pen drew faster,

pressing nightmares

into the edges of the room.

When I left,

the creatures lingered,

folded quietly

into the paper’s memory.
