A flat surface with one pathway to the destination
Where it ended was the ultimate question not answered
A journey that seemed simple and decisive
Where everything would become clear and concise
A path that had been traveled on many times before
Where onlookers found exactly what they were searching for
A road that seemed so simple that turned curvy and winding
Where decisions had to be made in order to move forward
A woman stuck in the middle of the path waiting, searching
Where her life would take her; where the road would lead
A trail that always started simple but was never as it seemed
Where the road may take us may be unclear but we must move on
A decision to keep moving is the greatest one of all

French Onion Soup
He only cooks on their anniversary. And he always wants to get everything right; it must be perfect, because she is. Except right now he’s in the kitchen cursing, hoping she can’t hear. He’d forgotten to freeze the onions before chopping them (her old trick – stops your eyes watering), and he thinks he may have inadvertently wept into the soup, causing it to be too salty, which she won’t like.

Baby's Night Out
**This story contains a mention of pregnancy and childbirth.** I just dropped my kid off at something called ‘Parent’s Night Out,' hosted by our Karate dojo. My husband is with his friends at their annual all day game we affectionately refer to as ‘all gay dame.’ So I have the night to myself. It occurred to me that I could use a clever title for my little solo excursion. My buddy Malinda offered ‘baby’s night out’ and I think that fits. It implies wandering in a childlike state of exploration for the simple pleasures in life. A rare treat for a mama with a nine to five and a husband who works most nights and weekends.
