The Party

(Dream Inspired/Moon Challenge...)

By L.Y.A.Published 4 years ago • Updated 4 years ago • 1 min read

Silence follows me

as I walk the darkened hallway

entering the room

long forgotten

where memories reside

gathering dust, like objects on a shelf.

Did they wait for me?

Did they know I was coming?

I’ll never know.

The light of the moon

surges in through the window

and blesses my skin

I’ll be sitting here

showering in the moonlight

until the others arrive to celebrate

this day of the damned.

I lay in wonder on crumpled blankets breathing in the stale air.

Time has not passed

here in this room

how many years have gone by?

All remains the same.

And all come to gather

to raise their glasses at the fallen.

Everyone likes a party.
