The Park
A poem about the importance of a park
Joyous children playing
the field is wild with
running kids
happiness and growth.
Freshly cut grass
my fingers lace through it
an earthly texture.
Footballs are flying
games super empowering
our souls freely gaining
cheering in excitement
sitting in sunshine.
Less on a winter's wintry day.
Warmth by the fire
after walking
through green fields.
Daylight has shifted.
Playing in the park not so much,
darker days are to come.
The world was a pandemic
a lockdown futile
but the greenness of the park
was our glory
fruitful and spiritual
it helped us to gain perspective
in fresh daylight flowering
something to look forward to,
the park, a place to be
for fresh air
and relaxation.
