Can I heal from my past?

Walking by, necklace in hand, heart-shaped, gold, like sand,

Ready to throw it away to the sea, as a voice broke out telling me:

“Young man, come, let me see your heart,

Show me your hand, from finish to start,

I’ll foresee your past, your lived, your aches,

You’ll either go faster or pull the breaks.”

––––––––––––––

Hand on hand, she took a knife, slit my skin along its line,

Water broke out from the wound,

Water broke out from the womb,

Water broke out from the tomb.

“When the woods were burning, the smoke was green,

The trees were desperate to be seen.

A call for help to the souls that were,

The ones that lived within our fur,

But when flames blazed, souls flew away,

Left you there, to our madness, a prey,

Rooted in trouble, a tree can’t run,

Can’t outrun its beast, it learned to slay.”

The line of life closed.

––––––––––––––

Hand on hand, she took a needle, pricked my skin along its line,

Sparks shot out from the pits,

Sparks shot out shades of grey,

Sparks shot out and showed the way.

“The wind directs the flow of the cloud,

No matter the resistance, no matter how proud,

When anger comes, the cloud blackens its shade,

Unleashing chaos as she decayed,

If you can’t take the heat, you should be afraid,

When the storm starts, debts will be repaid,

Thunder will strike, calling the spade a spade.”

The line of mind closed.

––––––––––––––

Hand on hand, she took a glass shard, split my skin along its line,

Blood came gushing out as I stood,

Blood gushed out as it should.

“Look around and tell me what you see,

Everything that you don’t want costs you a fee,

But what you seek is payed in bold,

As you stroll the alleys, one candle to hold,

Your iced-out heart fails to tank the cold,

Your reflects an image,

A person breaking his mold,

Try dealing with the devil,

All the souls have been sold,

He shot the candle straight into his chest,

The ice switched phase, melted, and put him to rest.”

The line of love closed.

––––––––––––––

Hand on hand, she removed her hand,

She hit my hand with her cane,

“He who does not heal from his past

Shall choke on it for his future has past.”

She turned around and walked away...

He had nothing back to say...

He stared back at the endless sea, thinking about what he had to do. He could not throw the necklace away. He put it back on his neck and walked away.

As he tried to run, the sand caught up. The necklace started squeezing his neck. What was air in his lungs became sand. Drop by drop, the hourglass filled.

As he took his last breath, he screamed at her: “Witch!”

She replied: “Perfect pitch.”
