The Pain That Does Not Fade

A quiet prayer from a heart that believes — even when it still aches

By LUNA EDITHPublished 7 months ago 1 min read

There is a record of dreams within my eyes,

Soft as dawn that never fully breaks,

They shimmer quietly behind my sighs,

Like fragile light on restless lakes.

How can I say I feel no pain?

How can I claim my heart is free?

When silent storms like hidden rain

Still fall somewhere inside of me.

I have no complaint upon my tongue,

No protest rising toward the sky,

Before my Lord I stand unsung,

With lowered gaze and questions shy.

O Merciful, I do not blame

The path You chose for me to tread,

I trust the wisdom in Your name,

Even where my tears are shed.

Yet I am human—weak and small,

My chest still aches beneath the load,

Some nights the shadows grow too tall,

Too heavy feels this winding road.

These dreams I carry in my sight

Are both my solace and my scar,

They glow with faint, persistent light,

Yet whisper of things that never are.

Time moves on with tireless feet,

Seasons fade and hearts adjust,

But pain and I too often meet

In quiet corners shaped by trust.

I ask no miracle, no grand design,

No sudden shift of fate’s decree,

Just ease enough so I may find

A breath of calm inside of me.

And if this ache must always stay,

Then grant me strength to bear it well,

To walk with grace along the way

Where silent, faithful spirits dwell.

For faith still lives within my chest,

And dreams still linger in my sight—

But pain, though gently unconfessed,

Does not grow smaller with the night.
