The Other Face

What's waiting is not a stranger

By Kathy TsoukalasPublished about a year ago 1 min read

There’s a place

where the water swirls when it moves,

as if remembering

what it feels like to emerge.

It's better to be alone here,

footsteps echoing,

creating ripples on the surface,

with each step.

Each step is a call.

I breathe.

The water breathes.

We wait for the next move.

Then it happens -

A flicker

A glimmer?

Movement beyond the movement.

An image -

Sliding sideways across the surface,

Recognition hitting,

Like sparkles.

I kneel and I see her,

the other face.

The one I almost forgot,

Coming into focus.
