THE ONE-EYED MOON SEES ALL
We’re never really alone Thanks to the one eye’d moon

THE ONE-EYED MOON SEES ALL
The one-eyed moon sees everything,
it never goes to sleep,
it watches all our happiness,
and every tear we weep.
It saw me kiss you yesterday,
beneath a crimson sky,
then watched you turn and walk away,
without a last goodbye.
That great big eye kept staring,
as though it somehow knew,
that promises are easily made,
but seldom all come true.
It saw the lovers in the dark,
the lonely on their own,
those who begged for one more chance,
then faced the night alone.
It watched the liars tell their lies,
the faithful speak the truth,
it saw the old remembering,
the foolishness of youth.
I asked the moon one evening,
“Why stare at us below?”
It blinked its one enormous eye,
as if to say, I know.
It knows where broken hearts are kept,
where yesterday still hides,
it knows the secrets buried deep,
we never share outside.
So when you think that no one saw,
the night you lost it all,
remember something watched above—
the one-eyed moon sees all.
