The Old Miser.

Rumors among the townsfolk, trouble in the air,

The consistency of idle chatter, concern and anxious care,

Talk of something lurking, among the forest trees,

A monster of legend, to bring the city to its knees.

Legends, myths, stories of ancient old,

Passed through every generation as it was then told.

Lurking in the swamps, veiled within the fog,

Hidden in the mud, the scent of the forest bog,

The monster in the forest, the nightmare none dare follow,

Lest sorrow ever linger and talk would carry over until tomorrow,

White hair, old, going about and talking,

The miser in the woodlands...
