The long-awaited summer now is here
Yet final deadlines have me trapped and locked
Inside my room where I am gripped with fear
That I will not outrace the ticking clock.
The sunshine slipping through the dusty blinds
Is overpowered by a glowing screen
My body craves for rest; my anxious mind
Keeps me awake and wishing I could scream.
No letter stands between an A and B;
The difference lies within a numbers game
In which a student wins--or finds defeat
If by their GPA, they are defamed.
If I complete this work, I can be sure
My academic future is secure.
