i drove out to the nothing
just the other day
a bit before noon
i pulled up in a toxic cloud
of pre-arranged dust, fumes and odours
and the heat;
well let’s just say the heat
was there well before me
i stepped out of my comfort
and stared into this relentless
creeping, pulsing void
brazenly bleeding a blank blackness behind
and it is eventually
into this lack of light
we will be thrust
as we become the nothing
become the everything
the serpent will gorge on itself
again
and again
the nothing is always close
it will devour what we do
and do not have
the nothing that is
the maker of dust and darkness
the black hole
of never and forever
and us
so close to knowing
the secrets of the sky
so close to far too many answers
the secrets will become as dust as well
the nothing is no abys
it has no need to stare at all
(donut of antimatter
universe of milk)
the nothing
the edge
the end
of space

Oooh how deeply philosophical. I love this sort of stuff. So many mysteries and questions that will likely never be answered. Excellent poetry as always too of course 😎
"the nothing that is / the maker of dust and darkness / the black hole / of never and forever / and us / so close to knowing / the secrets of the sky / so close to far too many answers /the secrets will become as dust as well" I love these lines. This poem is extremely compelling and I love the elements of dystopia. I think the stylistic choose to format this piece in all lowercase also makes it stronger. Excellent work, Brenton!
"brazenly bleeding a blank blackness behind" Provocative poetry of the void, great job.
"as we become the nothing, become the everything" ain't that the truth, because as Jack Nicholson said..."You can't handle the truth." Another great piece Brenton
Ooooo, I really like the donut of antimatter and universe of milk!
