Last night I dreamt

Of raging dogs

Tearing my dog to pieces

***

I cried and cried

For my dog to return

But he never came to my side

***

I was so helpless

No one came to my aid

They just watched it all

***

And in the end

All that remained

Was my dog’s head and bloody flesh

***

What is the purpose

Of such a dream

When all I watch are Disney documentaries?

***

Where do they come from

Deep in my subconscious

When I have lived no such trauma?

***

Fear so strong

That it takes away my nights

What does it mean?

***

Last night I dreamt

Of raging dogs

Tearing my dog to pieces—

But why?
