The Night the Firemen Went on Strike

By Donna Brewer

By Donna Buntaine BrewerPublished 4 years ago • Updated 4 years ago • 1 min read

The night the firemen went on strike,

the police were called in

to reason with them,

but the firemen struck anyway.

The small white castles

that held the water

broke,

making a warm water world

with floating pieces of white castles

and firemen floating in their crafts:

companions to me

floating in waters in which

I am surprised to have

no fear of drowning.
