The Night

Seeps In

I sit alone with my thoughts.

The ones I’ve avoided all day.

Too tired to fight them.

So I listen to what they say.

They tell me of wrongs long passed.

As they fidget and squirm.

How I should be better.

And how I’ll never learn.

Their voice fades into shadow.

As night’s breath deepens.

I’m a prisoner of my mind.

As the dreams seep in.
