The Negatives Of The Most Negative Of Spaces

When what's missing is your fault.

Solemn nights bring the images of what once was

And there's the fear of what's there when eyes open

No pictures, art, or portraits hung to remind one

Of all the things missing in this new version

So much is gone, and here one lies to suffer the missing

Emptiness, a harsh memory of it all being gone

The empty is filled with sorrow and the grief of the past

From one corner to the next, there's the nothingness

Yet, the mind wanders plenty through each empty crack

Escaping the empty space left by the torment of mistakes

It was all best-laid plans that would be torn away

And leaving this empty space in one's face each day

Even something to look at in this broken world

But the heart still would feel the agony of such pain

Hands wrapped around a pillow in the night

Only able to hear the outside world in the pouring rain

It's a sad place of the mind one goes to in the nothing

A sad and lonely place trying to remember what's missing

No solace from the memory of pictures that would fill the space

No respite from the ugliness of one's long and empty history

Only what's left each day when reality sits itself on top of you

Only the empty space not filled by life's joys

And the suffering of punishment, and the ecstasy of despair
