"Oma, which stocking is mine?"

Her little voice rings into the night,

As her eyes sparkle at the stockings

All hanging in a row.

~~~
Tsking, I say,
"You'll have to wait until Christmas morning."
She gives me a look and wonders why,
As we stand and look at the lot.
~~~

"Maybe it's this one, or maybe that,"

She points to the one decorated with a bear,

& then the one with a reindeer.

Jumping up and down, she is bursting to know.

~~~
Shrugging my shoulders, I say,
"It's up to Santa, but maybe he'll give you this one."
She shrieks, "NOOOOO!"
"Oma, that's for the dog!"
~~~

We giggle as she takes my hand,

Walking across the room.

It's past her bedtime,

So, this mystery will have to wait.
