Swaying to music a heavenly tune

The Moth That Danced With Fairies

A silver-winged moth drifted out through the trees

Following music carried by breeze

Moonlight spilled softly on petals below

Painting the forest with ghostly pale glow

Tiny bright fairies were circling there

Laughing like bells through the cool midnight air

Dust made of starlight fell loose from their skin

Drawing the wandering moth further in

Round ancient branches they twirled without sound

Bare glowing feet never touching the ground

The moth moved beside them enchanted and slow

Caught in the beauty the dark seemed to know

One fairy reached out with a delicate hand

Leading the creature through glittering land

Across hidden rivers and mushroom-lit stone

Places the daylight has never been shown

Hours dissolved under shimmering skies

Wonder reflected in thousands of eyes

The moth had forgotten the sorrow of rain

Forgotten the world with its sorrow and pain

Then morning approached with a cold faded blue

The fairies grew distant like smoke often do

One whispered softly before drifting far

Some magic survives only under the stars

Now every late summer when moonlight appears

The moth still returns through the silvering years

Searching the forest where wild music swayed

For one night of dancing the fairies once made
