The Moon's Skirt

It's a full moon.

Bright white light

Across the night sky's backdrop

In accompanying ensemble

Wind, trees, oceans below

Join in the chorus

Across the mountain, it shines

Into the water, it glides

Riding on the ocean tides

Leaving light ripples in its wake

Lifted skirt swiftly precise

Its number quickly unites.

In solo, as it continues on in this jive.

Giggling across the field

left to right it swings

Absorbed in its solo number

All of nature in wonder

At its bright smile tonight

Across the park bench, it swishes

Spotting two lovers in sync

Bridges and houses

Illuminated in its beam

Lake ducks paddle in its streak

City lights, its stage light.

Covered by a curtain of cloud

In this technical malfunction

Unruffled, the cloud swings in a waltz

Holding a swig of its skirt

To this midnight's jazz.
