The Monster Inside

Your 'darker' half ...

Don’t you hate it

when you reach your breaking point?

You can see it coming.

You forget to keep the cage safely locked

that the monster inside gets to get out.

It’s still your body,

yet invaded.

It’s still your mind,

but corrupted.

Rage has taken over,

twisting your conscience,

turning it upside down.

You don’t recognize

that voice, that angry growl,

but something itchy in your throat just crawls.

It’s just a matter of ‘when’

Before tears turn your eyes swollen.

Don’t you hate it

when that monster is wide awake?

Hours pass, your energy’s wasted.

Now you find yourself exhausted.

Sometimes it takes longer to tame the monster

before pushing it back into the cage.

Keep it locked again

before turning to the mirror

just to make sure,

there are no traces of pain.

It’s just one of those days

you can’t maintain being normal.

Let sleep be your only escape

to avoid unwanted trouble.
