The moments in between
A poem about the times between events, that pass us by, quickly forgotten and seldom cherished

Sometimes I wonder
About all these moments
That don’t seem to matter
Part of life’s minutiae
The space between events
That feel listless, endless
We’re tempted to rush through them
Waiting for something to happen
For excitement , for change
We wish them away
So many breaths we don’t count
So many minutes we won’t get back
We blink so often without noticing
In these times in between
Our hair and nails grow longer
Our faces get wrinkled
Our spines start to shrink
So many changes go overlooked
Until they are staring us in the face
We look in the mirror
And an old lady stares back
And we wonder
How did this happen?
When did I grow old?
