"The Missing Piece"

poem

By ElliePublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

They ask me, "What have you learned all these years?"

I stand in silence, swallowed by fears.

Did I waste my time, chasing the wind?

Or was I just lost, too tired to begin?

I tried to rise, to carve my own way,

But every path crumbled, turned into gray.

Failures embraced me like an old, known friend,

Every dream seemed to break in the end.

Some days, I whisper, "Just stop, let it be."

Yet somewhere inside, a voice still pleads, "Stand up, you need!"

I don’t want the world to look down on me,

But why do I keep falling, endlessly?

Where is the missing piece? What did I do wrong?

Was I never meant to belong?

Is this God’s way of saying, "Not for you?"

Or am I just too blind to see what’s true?

Maybe I am not the chosen one,

Maybe my prayers weigh less than the sun.

That verse haunts me, a wound in disguise,

"A bow thought weak may bring down the skies."

But what if my test is to kneel and rise?

To break, to rebuild, to sharpen my eyes?

Maybe I'm not forsaken, not lost in vain,

Maybe endurance is just another name for pain.

So I’ll stand once more, even if I shake,

Even if all of me feels like a mistake.

For the missing piece is not lost at sea—

It’s waiting, waiting, inside of me.
