The Mirror Kept My Soul

I am nothing but a prisoner for ever more

The Mirror Kept My Soul

The mirror waits in a distant room,

covered thick in dust and time.

Its golden frame is chipped and worn,

a home for secrets left behind.

One lonely ghost stares back at me,

a fragile glow of faded white.

It haunts the glass with hollow eyes,

forever trapped between two lights.

The air grows cold around my breath,

as quiet whispers call my name.

The past awakes and walks again,

inside that cursed, forgotten frame.

I reach, but darkness pulls me back,

reminding me what sorrow costs.

Some truths should never be revealed,

not every soul deserves the lost.

The ghost was once a life I knew,

a version that I tried to save.

Now it floats in silver glass,

the prisoner of the choices made.

I turn away before it speaks,

for fear of what the truth may show.

The mirror holds the parts of me,

I prayed the world would never know.
