The Mind Unleashed

Do you ever wonder why?

My mind wears a collar,

but the leash drags behind.

They tried to train my spine—

teach it obedience

like a second language.

I sat down.

I shut up.

I blended like beige

trying to disappear into more beige.

But inside?

Meteor storms of why

lit fires under facts

until they sweated the truth.

Why.

Why.

Why.

Say it long enough

and it turns strange,

like a tongue chewing itself.

If I can catch the why—

not kill it,

just gently pin it—

maybe the when will confess,

the who might get nervous,

the where could finally

pull up a chair and apologize.

And peace—

peace might tiptoe in

like it wasn’t invited,

but hoped someone would ask.

They looked at me

like I was a statue

someone lost interest in carving.

Compliant.

Contained.

Quiet—

like an unplugged toaster.

A good little carbon unit.

But beneath the stillness,

my mind swam

with jellyfish philosophies,

a rebellion of soft thoughts

and sharp questions,

marching across a chessboard

no one else could see.

The body may obey.

But the mind?

The mind slipped the leash

a long time ago—

barefoot,

hand in hand with why,

laughing

as they skip

through locked doors.
