I long for the woman I was

Her naivety was enchanting

Her sweetness was captivating

Her assurance in her place in this world was unwavering

She doesn’t understand that our only hope to survive was to leave those pieces behind.

To slowly build a life around the scars so brutally carved into us

A pain so brutal, I emerged bloody, carving out all the pieces of her that led us there.

I have no idea who I am anymore
