The me I want to be

the purple inside

By Fiona Marie CampbellPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Outwardly yellow

A beacon of positivity and optimism

Listening. Lifting others up

Triumphing over adversity

Which turned my essence blue

A vast, endless ocean

Dreams shattered in an abrupt tsunami

I learned not to put my happiness

in anyone else’s pocket

Trust broken

He walked away

Left me with sole responsibility

of three blank canvases

to mould and guide

MS like poison

flowed through my veins

Stealing my body

piece by piece

Disbelief, despair, disillusioned

I contemplated an exit

Gradually the blue dissipated

Angry waves

replaced by a rippling stream

Glowing red embers

collide with undulating water

Small fires ignite inside me

I rise. Effervescent

with a charismatic aura of purple

Creating inspirational words and melodies

Embracing faith and spirituality

On a quest for love and romance

Passionate and mysterious

In the whirling kaleidoscope of people

See my yellow

Embrace my blue

Admire my purple

The me I want to be

surreal poetry
