The Master's Touch

Pietà

Powerful, sweeping curves, so fluid,

Struck from the hand of but a young artist

With only chisel and hammer in hand,

Each sure and smooth strike of his tools,

Unleashing a wealth of silken movement,

Seemingly bound therein, procured from

The depths of a single block of marble.

*

Emotion rises, crescendos, and inundates

To ripple in cascading waves

Settling and resonating deep in the soul

Of he who witnesses such beauty;

It encompasses all sensation, all thought

With fierce intensity to absorb

In overwhelming possession.

*

Masterful perfection,

Powerful, silk smoothness,

Beauty inherent,

Found in each curve

As the marble dips and ripples

To display undulating passion

Wrought from the artist’s humble hand.

*

Hard, unbending marble,

Yet even still,

Steadfastly evoking

The manifestation

Of warmth and awe,

Masterful, smooth completion

Of sheer magnificence divine.

*

Powerful quote by M/angelo. If we could only see the angel within all of us, what a joy tat would be to watch it being carved into reality. Lovely poetry.
