The Man In The Mirror
Are you and I, two halves that make a whole?

There's a man in a mirror,
he taught me all I know
he said that we grew up fast,
I'd say that we grew up slow
When he talks, his lips never move,
I'd say he's like a shadow, somehow reaching through.
I asked him:
Why do I hurt the people I love? Why do I behave the way I do?
And when he replied, he said he wish he knew
I can catch him in a puddle,
he loves it when it rains,
his eyes look hollow,
two watery windowpanes.
I asked him:
Will I ever find peace?
My mind is like a scrap of paper, because when I feel a crease,
I can never fully straighten-out
the damage that has ceased.
I can’t remember when he arrived
perhaps he never came.
He said he feels as old as time,
yet we look quite the same.
I asked him:
Am I really in control?
Are you and I
the two halves that make a whole?
The man shook his head, and with the faintest grin,
he said was alike the blood, running beneath my skin
Sometimes I wonder, what if the mirror breaks?
Would the man inside-
slip
-out the shards of glass and escape?
He said that we grew up fast,
I’d say that we grew up slow
I can't stand to lose a childhood friend,
I can't bear to lose a piece of home.
There's a man in my mirror,
he taught me all I know.
I asked him what was on his mind, and this is what he wrote.
