The Makers of History
Illuminating Repetition
Deceivingly simple-minded creatures
that possess surplus of thought, always confident of their solutions.
They always leave behind,
like an obsolete record stuck on replay,
the changes that have been made.
They choose not to heed those alterations,
marked by skepticism and supposed neutrality.
A great King once said,
“We are not makers of history.
We are made by history.”
Though it may be conceived as a series of unreasonable clashes, of constant cacophony,
reminiscent of lethargy and apathy, a monotonous stream of surreal consciousness,
a great race to stump humankind that cannot be unlived,
it does not have to be neutral in benefits.
It need not be lived once more.
Even if the decision was made to deviate from this path,
the situation will be an unceasing Mamihlapinatapai.
Nothing would be achieved,
and prolonged escapism would be the ultimate result,
merely looking toward an ideal alternative.
Shaped by history, simple-minded as they are,
they are individual but comparable.
These creatures, never forcing the blame upon themselves,
dwell on those events outdated,
their minds wandering like vagabonds,
cast on those that appear insignificant.
Always looking for the transition from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance,
never looking for the causes of alterations,
always stuck in a never-ending cycle of needless repetitions.
