The Magic In A Bay Leaf
Burn to change things for the better

The Magic In A Bay Leaf
I wrote a wish upon a leaf,
A little hope, a small belief,
I held it gently in my hand,
And dreamed of things I couldn’t plan.
The night was quiet, candles glowed,
My little secret safely showed,
I asked the universe to hear,
The words I’d whispered year by year.
I didn’t ask for golden skies,
Or riches falling from the skies,
I only wished for something true,
A little love to carry through.
I thought that magic might appear,
And bring the things I wanted near,
But magic has a funny way,
Of teaching more than words can say.
Sometimes a wish will change your road,
And sometimes lift an old heavy load,
Sometimes it brings what you desire,
And sometimes sparks another fire.
The leaf became my little sign,
That dreams don’t always come on time,
But that doesn’t mean they’re gone,
Some dreams are waiting for their dawn.
I’ve learned that wishing isn’t all,
You still must rise each time you fall,
For magic may begin the way,
But you must walk the rest each day.
So keep your wishes close and true,
Believe in what is good for you,
Let every little dream you make,
Be something real your heart can take.
And if the moon is shining bright,
Make your wish and hold it tight,
For hope is magic of its own,
Even when you’re standing alone.
Then let the old leaf drift away,
And trust tomorrow brings a day,
For sometimes what you’re asking for,
Is waiting just beyond the door.
