The Luck We Find

Discovering Magic in the Everyday

By Tim CarmichaelPublished 7 months ago • Updated 7 months ago • 1 min read

They say the luck is in the clover,

the fourth leaf hiding from the rest,

but I have found it spread wide over

the ordinary world and blessed.

☘

It lives in fiddles bright and ringing,

in hillsides catching morning gold,

in every voice that keeps on singing

the same sweet stories, years grown old.

☘

It dances in the reels of laughter,

in flower-crowns of white and green,

in all we chase and all we're after,

the gold beyond the rainbow's gleam.

☘

Put on your green, and raise your glass,

and let the fiddles play their song,

for luck is not a thing that passes,

it's where you choose to be all along.

May the luck of the Irish be with all of you!
