My mamaw always used to tell me

Death don’t escort the dead for free

For evry time a soul is taken

They come again to claim a fee

Waitin’ for the perfect moment

Scavengin’ miles to find the door

Of donor’s that ain’t learned their lessons

Searching for souls they hunger for

After the mournin’ crowds have dwindled

And broken souls are left alone

Flowin’ in smoke of flickerin’ candles

To find a way into your home

You’d best beware the path you’re choosin’

Keep eyes on where you’re comin’ from

Or else your soul you will be losing

For if spirits follow you back home
