Oh, to have to say it's time
It's time to say those words so tough
Nothing about them seems fine
Because their source are feelings that are just rough
Only those words carry such weight
They speak to something negative in their wake
But, alas, they are a part of all our fate
Often, from times that are truly rough to take
Those words ring in the ears and echo through the mind
The scream loudly into the soul's empty abyss
Many who use them found the world harsh and unkind
Living in a world, everything feels like a sad miss
Everything comes around, doesn't it
All who walk this earth face the truth at some point
Even those who claim they don't get
Why wasn't it they who someone did anoint
From the rich to the poor, and everyone in between
Those words affect everyone who breathes the same air
And the suffering that occurs before they are accepted isn't always seen
But their existence proves that life is seldom fair
Those words are hard to say
It's time to say goodbye
They hit everyone in a different way
Some feel tears
While others let out a sigh
Sometimes it's the only thing to do
Sometimes it's time for things to be let to die
Holding on to things through and through
Doesn't work, and you have to say goodbye
