The Lonesome Trail

Poem about memories

By Cheryl E PrestonPublished 3 months ago 1 min read

Many have passed this way before

And others will come along after

Memories fill the lonesome trail

Of joy, sorrow and laughter

We may never pass this way again

But our footprints will leave a mark

Of what was shared one day

By taking a walk on a lark

Conversations are caught in the trees

Hear them whispering their tales

Inside a gentle breeze

Children families and lovers

All seeking what lies beneath

Waiting to be discovered

Birds are singing small animals run

Sunlight shines through the leaves

A gentle brook is flowing

The peace is hard to believe

With all the sounds of nature

There’s a stillness in the air

Memories of all who have passed this way

The lonely trail has seen its share
