The Lonely Trucker
Each day a different town driving till the sun goes down

The Lonely Trucker
The engine hums a steady tune,
A companion through the endless night,
White lines stretch beyond the moon,
Guiding wheels beneath dim light.
Small towns fade within the mirror,
Their glowing windows left behind,
Each mile traveled draws him nearer,
To dreams that wander through his mind.
Coffee cools beside his hand,
The radio whispers songs of old,
Across the highways of the land,
Through rain and wind and biting cold.
He sees the sunrise paint the sky,
With shades of gold across the plain,
Watching another day roll by,
As he follows yet another lane.
The road is long, the road is wide,
Filled with stories never told,
Memories riding by his side,
More precious than silver or gold.
He thinks of voices far away,
Waiting where the porch light gleams,
Loved ones hoping for the day,
He returns to share their dreams.
Storm clouds gather overhead,
Thunder shakes the distant hills,
Still he drives the path ahead,
With quiet strength and iron will.
Hours pass like drifting smoke,
The world asleep beyond the glass,
The silence speaks where words are broke,
As countless shadowed landscapes pass.
Every highway holds a tale,
Every turn a different view,
Every journey leaves a trail,
Of moments cherished and true.
Though loneliness may ride along,
Its presence felt through every mile,
He answers with another song,
And wears resilience like a smile.
The truck rolls on through dark and dawn,
Across the earth, through time and weather,
Knowing every road he’s drawn
Has shaped his heart and soul together.
And when at last the trip is done,
The weary miles all fade away,
The lonely trucker greets the sun,
Ready to begin another day.
