Dear dreary evening
Covering the sunset
with your thick billowed clouds
a little sliver of orange
dared peek through
quickly doused in grey
a little sliver of daydream
dared to warm me
quickly doused in real
the lines lined up
in the grey sky
like pages of a journal
daring me to write
my feelings out
what I keep secret
in my heart
goes rogue
once in a while
and I rein it back in
with strings
from my heart
the lines remain
unfilled
on a dreary evening.
