The Lightning Walk
A Sestina That was a Pain to Write
With branches and vines keeping it hidden
A path sat between the forest and town
On no map it could be found
Nor seen from high in the sky
A young soul wondered too far away
From their family and friends, away they walked
They whistled as they walked
a child wondered out of the city that is hidden
a path full of sunlight leading them away
so far has gone unnoticed by the town
they blow kisses to the birds in the sky
in awe at every create they have found
what else have they found
humming as they walked
head flung up towards that blue sky
ignorant to the evils lowly hidden
too far away from that familiar town
too small to get away
why should they get away
from this path newly found
It's so darn boring in that small town
Nothing for them was hidden
In that path they walked
So they head towards the now orange sky
That maroon colored sky
Turned brown as light faded away
So the child was now hidden
No chance to be found
Sobbing as they walked
Wishing to return to town
Wondering what was the way to town
Suddenly dewy stars filled the sky
Butterfly came along side as they walked
Leading the child away
Their tears tried as they had been found
No longer hidden
The friends walked into the town
To the homes hidden away
The parents so happy they found their sky
