The Lighthouse

A poem

By The Sage FoolPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

The Lighthouse

They viciously fought over each other

To get closer to the light,

Fighting their way up the staircase

It was a monumental height.

The few who remained to see it

When the fighting had died down

Clutched each other fearfully

For more darkness they had found.

The terrors of the lighthouse

Kept the lights switched on

Only those who could face them

Could bring in the new dawn.

It was not the lighthouse which beckoned

To sailors in the night.

The light that shone through the darkness,

Was that of their own might.
