The lies we tell ourselves
to cover up the pain
should stay within our own mouths
and within our own brains.

Just because you’re feeling hurt,
you’re feeling down and blue,
does not give you the permission
to take out your feelings on someone new.

It does not allow you the okay
to say horrible things
about the people who are no longer
living within your circle.

These things we spread,
these lies we tell,
they may be truth to us,
but every story has multiple sides.

Every tale is told differently
when it comes from different mouths.

So keep your story to yourself
unless it’s factually true.

Unless you’d like me to tell
some fun little stories about you.

Because everyone can make up lies,
but only some will search for the truth.
