No one enjoys pain, it hurts. A lot.

We never set ourselves up for pain, emotional or physical, it just sort of happens.

Being in pain has taught me many lessons. The power of the mind for one. How we go through the nights that feel like forever, the pools of salty tears that could fill the ocean, the disastrous sobbing we often hide, the beyond effort we make to shove it in the corner of our minds.

But, then one day without realization it doesn’t hurt anymore. We are able to be in a room alone without emotion creeping back through the crack in the window. It is a subconscious healing, and for this I will never underestimate the power of the mind no matter how daunting it is.

Pain has taught me that I and you are resilient, we go through situations that end in pain with whatever weaponry life has given us, the left over armor we have collected from the last battles.

Pain teaches us to be cautious, pain opens our eyes to the strengths that are hidden deep within, pain has friends — guilt, grief, sadness, love, anger. So, it seems pain enjoys the company of strong emotions which I guess is why when we fall we fall hard.

Pain creates this void in my mind full of questions. The whys, the hows, the what ifs. I am not sure these can be answered and that makes it so mysterious.
