The Last Unicorn

A Fantasy As Real As Happy

Seemingly, alone in a large lilac wood

the last, lonely unicorn, cried as she stood

Fragile and broken from the pain in her heart

ruthless words spoken, whispered words, in the dark

From mouths of the ones, she thought she could trust

any semblance of family, had crumbled to dust

Somewhere between her heart and her throat

died the things that she needed to say the most

Gone are the moments to say what you should

is there ever a time when the moment is good

Say what you will, while you have the time

we all hang by a thread, awaiting our moment to die

Then, what you've held deep down, past the depths of your throat

is lost to the ears that may have needed it most

Silence gets you nothing, but a belly of words

from a girl who believed she was better unheard

heartbreak

Oh gosh this is so beautifully written and so sad. The opening line just hooked me in, and then these two lines just wow. “ Somewhere between her heart and her throat died the things that she needed to say the most”

I Think we all have feelings like this from time to time.

  • May you never go unheard, my friend. If you cannot say the things you need to say when you must, at least never fear to say them to us here.

  • Oh this was so sad! Very beautifully written!
