The Jets Of War Roar So Loudly Overhead...Human Ears they Inflame

Day by day, night after night they practice noise-filled runs...Waiting –

for the order to advance...to burn, to scorch the earth with flaming fire,

to turn the fields to ash, and feed the gods of smoke their grim desire.

Steel birds descend with thunder in their wings, death in their wake

each shriek a dirge, each flare a crown of pain, innocence to obliterate

The soil remembers lullabies and springs now dream in dust, parched

beneath the warlord’s reign. Souls lament Mother Earth gently weeping

Yet in the silence between the blasts and cries, hope's light shines through

a child draws stars upon a shattered wall. A newborn wails a first hello

Hope flickers in the ruins, dares to rise, dares to refuse the monster's knell

defying death with laughter’s call. Fragile Plans wrought, battle calls sound

So let this sonnet be a rebel’s breath - a sentinel to brave souls still rising

A victory song that plays and blooms in spite of monsters, war and death.
